I have very few card collections given my limited resources and space, but I did decide some time ago to begin collecting on-card Royals autographs. It’s been a blast so far trying to track these things down and this is the latest addition to my collection. Mitch Mitch bo... nevermind.
Some of the first eBay auctions I ever won include the blue and orange variations of this here card. At the time I won them, I was assuming that Mith would continue to play pretty much every day in the majors and I was pretty stoked to get them for about $2.50 total. As it happens, Mitch has kind of been demoted to a second string player with Melky Cabrera tearing it up in the outfield. Obviously, these cards can’t get much cheaper so it’s not like I’m losing my shirt here, but I thought Mitch had something of a future in the Royals organization. Sure, his OPS was well below big time players’, but he… well… he… okay, I guess I didn’t look that closely. I’m not even sure how the Bowman base parallels work, but I know I’m missing the white version. Anyone care to fill me in on what other ones are out there? These don’t pop up on eBay much because… well, it’s Mitch Maier.
