My “In Defense Of” post garnered quite a bit of attention for the site. Chris Olds and Susan Lulgjuraj from Beckett, VOTC – c0-host of Cardboard Connection Radio, a couple card blogs and various twitterers all picked up on the article and helped promote and discuss the issue. When all was said and done we [...] We’ve been down this road before. It’s a good road. It’s a fun-filled road with interesting treasures to be discovered. A road laced with history. But this is a fragile road because it’s made of cardboard. It’s also a never-ending road to nowhere, because I don’t know what kind of metaphor or analogy or introduction [...] In my most recent post, I sung the praises of the #TwitterTrade. Well…second verse, same as the first. This time, I’m talking about Charles, aka @SWLVGUY. He’s another must-follow on there. Not only is he a great trader, as you’re about to see, but also a fantastic twitter ambassador for the hobby. Oh, and he uses [...] We almost adopted a cat recently. We were planning to wait until we get a house, but while shopping for our parents’ pets, we saw this certain cat. He was 9 years old and was given up by his previous owners simply because they had a kid and didn’t want to take care of both. [...] Why am I so excited about college basketball? A few reasons. 1) My Chicago Bulls aren’t likely to be too fun to watch until Derrick Rose returns from injury. 2) I think the college game is simultaneously infinitely more fun and infinitely more frustrating to watch due to the raw passion and hustle and lack [...] It took much longer than it ever should have, but Community Gum has now reached the 500 post milestone. It’s a momentous occasion that’s sure to go down in the annals of card bloggery as “another blog post.” Try not to get too teary-eyed. Yes, 500 posts. But seriously, Jamie Moyer winning his first game of the season the other day (thus becoming the oldest pitcher to win a game in the history of baseball) happened literally hours after I had a conversation with a non-collector friend of mine. So young. So… not old. [...] There hasn’t been much movement on this blog for a while. I don’t like to see it sit and languish like this, but sometimes you have no other choice. I could go through all the reasons why the posts each week have been slim-to-none, but why bore you with the same old stuff. You people [...] Keep watching this space, because on Sunday I’ll be unveiling something that will keep this blog occupied for some time starting in late October.
