Just like a player out by a mile on a Play at the Plate (hint, hint), I’ve got Frank Thomas’ number. And it’s 0692/3500.

I'd say that's an accurate description.
Brian sent over a couple cards this summer either as his part of a trade or as another one of his random gifts. I can’t seem to figure out which because it was in July and my record keeping isn’t 100% reliable.
Frank was certainly reliable throughout his career. He should be headed to the hall in 2014 along with Greg Maddux. Can’t wait to see the number of cards I need to collect spike after that…. I like the simplicity of this card. It appears mine fell in between two sheets of coating or something, but who cares.
You know what’s even more amazing than receiving a decade-plus-old numbered card in the mail? How about two of them?

King me
You can’t tell from the scan, but this is the Premiere Date version of the 2000 Crown Royale set, which means it’s #/121!! What’s even more amazing is how pristine this card is. The elaborate die-cuts are quite sensitive and not very user-friendly sometimes. All I need now is the regular version, the Red, the Limited /140, the Platinum Blue /75.
People really want more than one card company? I can’t even keep up with all the Topps releases. Imagine if we had it like 2000 again.
I need to play some serious catch-up or someone else will have my numbers first.
Thanks again, Brian. This was a very cool, and much appreciated surprise.
Cards like those, especially the Gwynn, belong in the hands of someone who can really appreciate them. Glad you liked them!
