I have very few card collections given my limited resources and space, but I did decide some time ago to begin collecting on-card Royals autographs. It’s been a blast so far trying to track these things down and this is the latest addition to my collection. To view the cards currently in the collection, take a look at the Gallery. Shane Costa is your standard AAAA player. Killer numbers in the minors that just never translated to big league success. 5 years after his rookie card here, Shane is playing indie ball for the St. Paul Saints. I’m not sure if he’s looking for a major league job or is cool just playing ball up in the cold white north, but I like Shane Costa. I like to think of him as the kind of player I’d be if I had even the slightest bit of athletic ability: no speed, no power, but solid contact. I have no data from my own baseball or softball career to back this idea up.
Shane’s got 2 rookie autos (and their myriad variations) in both Topps Chrome and Topps Finest. I have a feeling I can complete both rainbows (sans 1/1s if they did those in 2005). Dare me? Dared.
