The moment you’ve all been waiting for has arrived. All of the boxes have finally been opened (after a small delay in the middle of everything), and I personally think that the break on a whole will prove to be a resounding success. My plan for the break, as I’ve mentioned before is to post a box a day just about every day. I may not be able to get one up on Monday, but we’ll see. Monday I may pre-load something to run about the Crown Royale Contest, so keep an eye out.
First up, in Chronological order of release is 2000 Fleer Mystique. Here’s the video
Before I go any further, I want to say that I made a mistake in the video. I said that the Will Clark auto is for the Giants, but it’s actually for the Orioles. The uniform and the back of the card show Orioles logos. I apologize for that. I actually didn’t know he ever played for Baltimore, and I saw the orange and I just assumed. So, I’m sorry This Card is Cool and congratulations Beardy.
How’d we do?
Well, I’d have to say pretty dang darn doodily good. Just as I predicted in a previous post of mine, the good luck continued. We beat the odds like Mark Wahlberg in some movie I saw about fighting. “Good Vibrations”? Anyway, there was no guarantee of us getting an autograph at all. They fall one in every two boxes. Our box contained two autographs, so we crushed it. On the flip side of that, there was supposed to be a gold parallel somewhere in the box (which is very tough to tell from the regular version – the team logo circle is gold foil and it’ll say Gold instead of Mystique on the back), and there was none. I checked about three times since they’re so similar. The other inserts were virtually at the correct odds. We got an extra Club 3000 instead of a High Praise.
I know I said in the video that I would contact you to see if you wanted your cards cleaned-up, but why wouldn’t you want them cleaned? I took care of all that. The cards look fine and all it took was a rub of the ol’ thumb and the shiny stuff eventually came off. I won’t lie, it took a while. Here’s what they look like uncovered.
All the Prospect cards are numbered /2000. I know it’s tough to read the numbers. They’re actually part of the set, but since they’re numbered, I put them in the insert category of things in my breakdown below.
Here’s a closer look at the Autos. As you can see, they’re both really nice, on-card signatures here. The Will Clark as I said is actually going to Beardy with the Orioles. No one claimed the White Sox so this is up for trade if anyone is interested for whatever reason. He was a former Cub if that helps. Any base cards or inserts you saw in the video or in the scans belonging to a team not claimed is up for trade as well. Just let me know. Remember there will be 7 boxes worth, so I may wait until the end of it all to start replying in case you want to add other stuff you see.
Overall, a very solid start to the Community Break. Do things get better from here? Well, you’ll just have to wait until tomorrow to find out.
By the way, below is a list of all the cards for your team so far. This does not include any cards that I took for my personal collections, but it DOES include doubles. My intention is to ship the doubles. If you don’t want your duplicates for whatever reason, please let me know at some point and I’ll separate them out of your stack.
Thank you all very much!

We got more David Cone’s than we did Mets cards! haha Very cool box though, can’t wait to see what the rest hold.
I got the three players I wanted from that box, so I’m happy 🙂 The base cards look pretty nice in this set, and those autos are really nicely done
Sweet Will Clark auto!
Wow Is that an Ankiel parallelI hit? I now a guy that is a huge collector of his. That card may have just paid for my entire break..lol
To whomever claimed the Reds – I’d be interested in working a trade for the Sean Casey cards if you don’t want them.
Ouch! I’m almost certain that Clark auto is an error and should be in a Rangers uni!! Nice hit Beardy.
