And now we come to box #4, putting us slightly over the half-way mark. I may not be able to post the next tomorrow, but this could hold you over for a while. Here’s the video for 2003 Fleer Avant.
How’d we do?
If you haven’t watched the video yet, I’d say go ahead and watch the video and then tell me how good we did. These cards look great. They’re sturdy. They have a nice texture to them. I’d be happy with the way this box turned out even without that beast of a hit. I still don’t know if an autograph was guaranteed or not, since the box doesn’t say one way or the other, but even if it was and we got everything we were supposed to, I don’t think the magnitude could have been predicted.
I didn’t realize it until after the video, but there is actually only “parallel” in the set and that’s the black and white version #/199 you see in the top row. The Green Matsui is a rookie card and all of those are numbered /699. The cream colored Reggie is a retired player which are all numbered to 799. So, that Nolan is actually the B&W version of what normally would be a /799 card.
I think A-Rod may be a vampire. He appears in the front slide, but not in the back slide. Hmmmm, maybe that’s where his powers come from. Not steroids, but human blood. Look at that Super Bowl tape again. What was Cameron Diaz really feeding him?
I wanted to shout about this card from the start of the posts. On Mystique, I wanted to say “..and a very nice Will Claaaaaahhhhhh, I PULLED A JETER AUTO!!!!” But I didn’t. I was able to keep it bottled inside. I know you guys aren’t nearly as excited about this since it’s not finding it’s way into any of your piles, but I’m ecstatic.
It could only be better if it were his jersey number. I guess this would be a good time to mention that since the Yankees weren’t paid for, this card is up for trade. I will warn you, however, that it will take a massive offer to make me give it up at this point. If no one blows me away with something, my plan is to eventually sell this on ebay and use that money to buy a couple decent Maddux autos, since I think I can get a good chunk of change for this sucker. Either that or pay for my recent car repairs (although my tax return covered most of that).
Have we now seen the best of the best from this break? Well, we still have 3 boxes left, and it’s all subjective. I was able to keep this a secret, so I’m not going to say anything else. You’ll just have to sit tight and see for yourselves.

Holy crap is that an awesome pull…and I hate the Yankees! I’m still surprised that NO ONE claimed the Yankees in your break. That’s the one team that always get claimed in group breaks…or so I thought.
The Real Person!
The Real Person!
It was actually claimed, but it was never paid for, so eventually I had to move forward….
I’m extremely happy with that break. I’m no Jeter fan, but that’s an awesome hit. Whoever failed to pay for the Yanks is going to be kicking himself over that.
Holy hell! Nice auto pull dude! That certainly takes way a bit of the financial strain of not filling the break. I say good for you!
Great pull on the Jeter. I love the design of this set, and the Jeter is a great example of how to do a great auto card. I got the A’s base set, although it was only four players strong. A little disappointed that Reggie is an Angel in this set but you can’t win ’em all.
Thanks again for posting it up Jon, I think every box has exceeded expectations so far.
The only time the Yanks aren’t paid for…
Man, wish I jumped on that when the guy didn’t pay.
I love a set where you need only two cards to complete the team set. Got the two Dodgers and the team set is DONE!
Break damn you, break!
Dude
You know the guy who didnt pay for that slot is kicking himself in the ass for that one man..
