So you may be wondering, “Hey, why the amazingly catchy name?” Well, when you were a kid, did you ever open so many packs of junk wax that you just didn’t know what to do with all that gum? Or, for the contemporary crowd, have you ever opened a box of Topps Heritage and found yourself with an insurmountable pink mountain of insta-dissolving brittle sticks? Of course you have! When faced with a situation like that, there’s only one solution: Invite all the neighborhood kids over to talk sports and chew away.
That’s what this blog is going to try to be. We’ll talk about the new, the old and random stuff in between. We’ll talk about collecting in the past, collecting trends, and trends we’d like to see. We’ll talk mostly about baseball, with a little bit of football and basketball sprinkled in (we aren’t that familiar with hockey or some of the other sports, so maybe we’ll learn together). We’ll review products new and old and mostly retro. We’ll think of funny things, crazy things, and occasionally serious things. We’ll laugh, we’ll cry, we’ll open and we’ll chew.
You may also be wondering who are the handsome, clever fellows that started this blog. Well, we’re Jon and Andy. Like a lot of you we collected a boat-ton when we were younger, stopped somewhere in the teenage years, and have recently rekindled our passion for all things cardboard and wax. The industry has undergone quite a bit of reconstruction surgery since we saw it last, but we still love her. It’ll be fun dissecting and analyzing everything on here.
